Wet Evening at Juffair Avenue

The last 2 days had been a bless for us here in Bahrain as we had been showered with plenty of rain though it causes some traffic on the road and some flood on the street. The weather is still better than in Dubai because what I saw on TV, it was a very heavy rain plus thunder and flooding. So today's shot, I am showing the evening shot of Juffair Avenue and you could see from the cars that they are shinier due to the wetness from the rain.

Oh I love rain!

Raindrops on the Car's window

Today's shot was taken this morning at 8.30 am when I was on the way to work. It was still near Bahrain Bay area. Bahrain is blessed with lots of rain today. I am so happy as the weather reminds me of home now and I can smell the disctinctive rain smell from the air and suddenly Bahrain changes in front of my eyes. The grass looks so green and the trees moves so majesticly. LOL. In this shot you could see that the car's window covered by drops of rain fall.

It is a beautiful day and I wish everybody a happy day!

Waiting for Sunset

This is the photo of the beach side infront Isa Cultural Center which is also adjacent to Grand Mosque Al Fateh. The water level during the day time until late afternoon near Sunset is always low as you can see in this picture. In a couple hour after sunset, this ground will be filled with seawater.

Some families, youngster, couples and joggers always come here and wait to see the sunset. It was a windy day and I was almost finishing my jogging trek. The sunset was not really pretty as it was very foggy due to the current sandstorm season. The breeze of fresh sea air was was very mind calming and I promise to myself that I will come here on my every joffing trek.

Have a nice day Y'all!

Joyride Fun On a Big Harley Davidson

Today's photo is a shot of a couple of Harley Davidson bikers that I took when I was on the way to go to work earlier today. This is the second photo that I am posting during March on Harley Davidson, though the earlier one was only about the street ads featuring the new Harley Davidson store in Bahrain in this posting here. I would also like to share with every visitors here about an interesting posting about Harley Davidson by a DP fellow in Bandung, Indonesia Eki here, compared to his explanation about HD, mine is too pale away from it. Enjoy then!

Let me share you the facts I found about Harley-Davidson Owners Group in Bahrain as in below.

Originally it was established as the Harley Owners Group in 1983 in response to a growing desire by Harley riders for an organized way to share their passion and show their pride. By 1985, 49 local chapters had sprouted around the United States, with a total membership of 60,000.

Rapid growth continued into the 1990s, and in 1991 H.O.G. officially went international, with the first official European H.O.G. Rally in Cheltenham, England. Worldwide membership numbered 151,600, with 685 local chapters. As the '90s continued, H.O.G. hysteria spread into Asia, including new chapters in Singapore and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. By 1999, worldwide membership had hit the half-million mark, and the number of local chapters totalled 1,157. Today, more than 750,000 members make H.O.G. the largest factory-sponsored motorcycle organization in the world and it shows absolutely no signs of slowing down.

Locally, there are Chapters in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Lebanon and Kuwait and following the opening of the new dealership, we now have our own Chapter here in Bahrain. The first meeting of the Bahrain Chapter was held on 3 October 2003. For further information, please go here to the H.O.G official Bahrain website.

Arabesque Door Miniature in Gypsum Work

Today's photo is a shot of a Gypsum work done by an artisan at Manama Craft Centre and this piece is depicting the ancient Bahraini's door with its beautiful arabesque and islamic scripts.

Gypsum has been used since ancient times to build monuments that have lasted for centuries. The oldest traces of plaster (gypsum) renders are 9,000 years old, and were found in Anatolia and Syria. The pyramids of Giza in Egypt, for example, is the only surviving wonder of the ancient world. This noble material has been a constant presence in construction and renovation through the ages. The ancient Greeks also used a transparent quality of gypsum "selenite" to construct statues and windows for their temples.

Today gypsum is used widely in a lot of applications of our daily life and in different sectors, such as the construction industry, health, agriculture, decoration, paintings and more. In general, gypsum is suitable for all interior plastering except areas directly exposed to free water or severe moisture and therefore is not recommended for exterior applications. Gypsum is also non-combustible and resist to fire for extended periods of time.

What is gypsum actually?

Gypsum, a sedimentary rock scientifically named "Calcium Sulfate", was created from the evaporation of sea water that was trapped in lagoons of subsoil and is usually found in mountains. The impure gypsum (that it is found in the subsoil) can have different color variations, such as grey, brown or red. Please go to Wiki here for further reading.

Happy Reading Folks! Further down I attached another shot of various gypsum works available at the craft centre.

Bahraini's Doll

This is a picture of a local Bahraini's doll made of fabric and attired in Bahraini's traditional woman dresses. This photo I took somewhile ago during the visit to al Jasra Craft Centre. This traditional toy has been revived by the local artisans recently and for sure that they are very beautifully made and carefully accesoried according to Bahraini's traditional attires.

A doll is an object that represents a baby or other human being, but includes likenesses of animals and imaginary creatures. Dolls have been around since the dawn of human civilization, and have been fashioned from a vast array of materials, ranging from stone, clay, wood, bone, cloth and paper, to porcelain, china, rubber and plastic.

While dolls have traditionally been toys for children, they are also collected by adults, for their nostalgic value, beauty, historical importance or financial value. In ancient times, dolls were used as representations of a deity, and played a central role in religious ceremonies and rituals. Lifelike or anatomically correct dolls are used by health professionals, medical schools and social workers to train doctors and nurses in various health procedures or investigate cases of sexual abuse of children. Artists sometimes use jointed wooden mannequins in drawing the human figure. Action figures representing superheroes and their predecessors, action dolls, are particularly popular among boys.

So, Do you like dolls dear readers?
