Today is theme day in the City Daily Photo community, and the theme is contrast. Sanabis DP contribution is this photo showing the Al Hamad Twin Towers in Sanabis (well kinda forget the name of the street). It was near the end of sunset.

March 2009 Theme Day - Glass

Today as the 1st day of the month and as usual at DP Community there will be a theme picture selected for today. So for this month, I am sharing the photo that I took last year at Manama Crafts Centre. In this picture, you could see some beautiful stained glass lead works. Most pieces are featuring the Middle Eastern or Arabesque design. What I found a very interesting work piece is the work on HH King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifah; The King and Emir of Bahrain.

DP Theme Day - Best Photo of the Year 2008

This is my choice for the best photo of the year. Everytime I look at this and I am feeling my longing for my hometown. I grew up in Padang, the capital of West Sumatra province in Indonesia. The sea and the beach were part of my life and this beautiful sunset reminds me of my childhood.

DP Theme - Books "Tuesdays with Morrie"

Reading is always my number one hobby to do during my spare time. I start to pick up this habbit since I was at college. Firstly, it was just as part of semester assignment as I was rolling at advance education for language college and majoring in English, gradually I became addicted with reading and later on, it becomes part of my life.

Through the times, I am not picky at what I am reading, I can enjoy an historical books, novel or romance but it does not stop me reading some suspense, thriller or even autobiographical journals. Starting by reading, the hobby evolves into collecting. Some favourite books or novel, I would keep for my personal collection in order to make my own library. The collections have grown into some hundred numbers. Since I was a little boy at Elementary, I was always fascinated with cultures from other countries. When travelling into another country, I always buy a book about its cultures and natures, like shown on the above picture. Considering the sizes, I would be in trouble on packing up back to Indoland later.

Yesterday, I just finished reading "Tuesdays with Morrie" by American writer Mitch Albom. I believe that most of you already read this best selling memoir. A deeply touching real life story between a teacher, a student and the life's greatest lesson.

DP Theme - Sister City

Our theme of the day for the 1st of September is Sister City(ies) and I must confess that I had no idea wether Sanabis has a twin city! After searching at Wikipedia, I only found out that only Manama is being twinned with Dubai city in United Arab Emirates. Since Sanabis is under the municipality of Manama, so that is it then!

Here is a nice shot of Manama Skyline from Wikipedia since I do not have any of such pretty composition. This shot is one of my favorite photos in the whole year 2007. Please give me sometime as I am trying to put the photo loop here, so you can see them all. (right now, I am at work, trying to do some works and blogging at the same time but it seems the time is not on my side now as I have to postpone one job, Sanabis DP LOL ).
