Eid ul Adha, The Festival of Sacrifice

Today we are celebrating Ied ul Adha in Bahrain, the festival of sacrifice and I am posting the shot of lambs at Sanabis farm near my old accomodation. They are really cute animal but always keep a distance to me. Unfortunately I could not take the shot of the goats here. They are very handsome animal; very tally and fearless of human. Now lets get back to the real story why I am posting a herd of lambs today as in below infos.

Eid ul Adha is a religious festival celebrated by muslims worldwide in commemoration of the willingness of prophet Ibrahim or Abraham to sacrifice his son as an act of obedience to God. The devil tempted Ibrahim by saying he should disobey God and spare his son. As Ibrahim was about to sacrifice his son, God intervened and instead provided a lamb as the sacrifice. This is why today all over the world Muslims who have the means to, sacrifice an animal (usually a goat or a sheep), as a reminder of Ibrahim's obedience to God. The meat is then shared out with family, friends (Muslims or non-Muslims), as well as the poor members of the community.

Sheep's Farm at Sanabis

This is a shot of Sheep's farm at Sanabis, a mere 300 metres away from our flat. Every morning anf evening we are always blessed with the manure and the pees fumes and I mean it as a bless as the smell always reminds me of my hometown, the country side of Batu Sangkar, West Sumatra but we have goats there!

Do you like animals guys? I have 6 hamsters, 1 fighting fish and 5 tiger fishes in my flat now! oh what a joy to watch them, take care of them and tear my tears upon giving them away. LOL

The Stallions

I have mentioned on the earlier posting here about the horse riders. Here are 2 pictures captured that day. When I asked permission to take the shot, the guys were so nice and eager to share information about their stallions. These 2 beautiful black stallions are half brothers and both are 2 years old. Their names are Delgado and Black Night

Another Sanabis Farm Photo Series

I missed posting a photo yesterday as I was absorbed by tons of works yesterday (what a lame excuse :P). I am going to do a little cheat today by posting some of my previous farm photos. Instead of having one, you will get 3 photos hehe No more bargain!
Anyway, the animal of the day is the DUCK. The duck is not a natural animal found in Bahrain. I believe that it is brought and bred in Bahrain since there is technology of finding water in abundantI. If not, how a duck could survive living in a dry and harsh place like Bahrain. Do not you love the duck?. I used to have a dozen of ducks when I was little toddler. I raised them as pet and they followed me around like i was the mother duck :P
What about you? What kind of pet did you have when you are young?
