Yellow Troops - Raj Kumar; Our Hero of Cleanliness

27th April - Freedom Day

Freedom Day is a South African public holiday celebrated on april 27. It celebrates freedom and commemorates the first post-apartheid election held on that day in 1994. The elections were the first non-racial national elections where everyone of voting age of over 18 from any race group was allowed to vote.
The reason why I am posting about this topic due to the big numbers of fellow South African in the place where I am working. Also for the reasons that my compassion toward their friendly and compasionate personality since I have many of them that I consider as very good friends. May our friendship will be lasting forever.

Previously, under the apartheid regime, non-whites had only limited rights to vote. Some groups and social movements celebrate a version of Freedom Day called Unfreedom day in which they mourn the unfreedom still experienced by the poor.

Damas Jewellery in Gold CIty

Yesterday, some friends and I went to Gold City Jewellery Mall. I was asked by a lady friend to show her some jewellery shop as she was looking for a present for her parent. I guess that Gold City Mall is the perfect place to go as there are many famous jewelry found there and one of them is DAMAS.

So today, I am showing you some poor shots from my N91 about Damas Jewellry. Dear reader, please bear with me as during the trip none of us brought a camera and unfortunately we had to use our handphone camera to capture the shops and some of the jewellries on the display.

Now lets talk about Damas Jewellery, quoted from its official website here, Damas is a group of an international integrated jewellery and watch retailer based in Dubai, UAE and operating in about 18 countries with around 450 stores, and the leading jewellery and watch retailer in the Middle East. The group’s network of retail outlets includes subsidiaries predominantly in the Middle East, India and Italy, Jointly controlled entities and Associates in countries across the Middle East, Europe, North Africa and other regions.

On MTC TV channels here (Dubai based channels), we always watch the new DAMAS Advertisement featuring Nancy Ajram, a famous multi-platinum Lebanese pop folk artist (if you want to know about her, please go here).

Fitness First Health Club at World Trade Center

Last week I went with a friend Vira visiting the Fitness First fitness center at Bahrain World Trade Center. It is located on the 6th floor of this beautiful landmark. I find that the facilities are very complete and very relaxing. They even have some computer with internet access. How kool it will be! The receptionists are very friendly (well one of them is a friend so? LOL). There is also an outdoor swimming pool with the beautiful view of Bahrain bay. When we were there, they were celebrating their 1st anniversary and offered some interesting promotion offer. I am not sure if it is still valid as it has been a week.

Fitness First is UK-based world's largest gym, health and fitness club chain, with over 550 clubs and 1.5 million members spread across the United Kingdom, Europe, Asia, Australia and the Middle East. Please go here to read on the opening coverage by Bahrain Financail Harbour site here. To read more, please go here to visit its official website and by Wiki here.

Grey Steel Sillhoute of Bahrain World Trade Center

Today I am sharing you again the shot of Bahrain World Trade Center with its greyish metalic sillhoute from its outer exterior. I believe that it is the reflection from their metallic windows but I also saw the green tinted window frame in some areas. But again, I guess the grey cloud make the picture look greyish as well. LOL

Starbuck in Juffair Avenue

Today I am sharing you a shot of Starbuck Cafe at Juffair Avenue. One of the popular hang-out in the area. As you might see from many previous posting that there are many American branded outlet can be found along Juffair Avenue. In one way, it caters the need of the residences in Juffair area as it is one of the posh district in Bahrain and the other way is due to its close proximity to the American Naval Base (it is just down in the corner), it provides many necessities for the soldiers either for foods, residences, clubs and many others. At the end of the day, it also becomes a place where the young Bahrainis, Expats and Weekeners from the regional GCC go to hang-out during the weekend or just for dinner destinations.
